DIRECTOR’S CORNER

January 2022

 Happy New Year Everyone

As we muddle through these very challenging COVID times, I believe the quote above speaks volumes to all RFCSL’s exceptional leaders. Just when the changes are put into action, within a day or so, we find ourselves back at the drawing board, re-drafting the “Covid” plan to ensure best services/supports are in place to minimize the spread and or contracting of this relentless virus.RFCSL’s leadership team bands together as soon as changes are necessary, and within hours of the plan requiring significant changes, it’s completed and implemented.

And equally important, I would also like to extend my total appreciation, gratitude and THANK YOU to the people we serve, their family members, frontline caregivers and permitted subcontractors for working side by side with RFCSL to make all these changes possible. Clearly this is an organization that holds a strong belief, that “together, we will get through this”.

Collectively and collaboratively, you all make it seem so effortless, making these last-minute drastic changes, resulting in exceptional outcomes for all areas of operations. But most importantly, keeping all of us safe and healthy.

Despite all the challenges we have faced and continue to do so, I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Here’s hoping, like everyone else, that this Omicron settles quickly, and no more variants emerge so we can all get together and celebrate and plan some great 2022 activities and events.

Stay healthy and safe.

“We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.

CLIENT SERVICES MANAGER’S CORNER

Happy New Year to Everyone!!!!

2021 was a challenging year for everyone. Daily struggles to stay on top of the Provincial and Federal Government rules and restrictions regarding Covid and all the variants. Juggling work, family, and friends. Efforts to maintain physical and mental health has taken its toll. I hope that everyone can see that we made it through. We are strong and resourceful. We have come a long way and together we can continue to learn how to live with this virus and its side effects.

I am so proud to see how our Resourceful Futures’ staff, permitted subcontractors and families have rallied together with support and caring.

2022 is not prewritten, and we can make it great, positive, and successful. Please continue to reach out with your stories, your pictures, and any styles of coping that you use which others could benefit from.

As a manager, I am currently interviewing new clients for residential supports, I am completing risk assessments on each person who has a currently response plan and researching fun and exciting events, games, and challenges to keep us together even when we are apart.

I am happy to be a part of this team and here’s to the best year ever.

Community Access Program

Our Pandemic experience has shaken every one of us affecting our physical and mental health in ways that are both obvious and invisible. It was the year 2020 when the first rumored Corona virus rampaged the streets of Wuhan and eventually spread around world. It’s 2022, two years past and we are still facing this incredible health crisis. Our Community Access Program was immensely impacted since we had to adjust to the government health protocols. We have experienced series of opening and closing of the day program. We have implemented reopening plan, created policy and procedures and guidelines to ensure that anyone attending and working at the day program are safe and healthy.

In the last couple of months of 2021, our clients were able to experience and enjoy a little bit of normalcy in the community such as going bowling, walking, swimming, taking transits, buying their own bus passes, purchasing their lunches from their venue of choice. In the mid of December, Alberta Covid-19 cases increased and we as an agency had to tighten protocols. Although this health crisis is still on going, Community Access has ways of celebrating the spirit of Christmas. Our individuals enjoyed SUPER Bingo game, some treats and Christmas music. RF employees participated the Annual Christmas Raffle a fund raising for client’s social and cultural events. To all RFCSL Administrative Team for sponsoring our prizes and most of all to all RFCSL employees for supporting our cause, a big THANK YOU!!!

With all the things happening in this world, we have come to realize that wellness isn’t a luxury rather it is the foundation of enjoying what life has to offer. We may have experienced series of lockdown, bombarded with restrictions and protocols we will always be resilient as an agency. It has been proven and tested!

To my Colleagues at Resourceful Futures

As we all know the Alberta Medical Officer and Health Minister encouraged all eligible Albertans to get the Covid Vaccine Booster shot at least 5 months after the second dose as this gives extra layer of protection against new Covid variants, like Omicron.

In relation to this, please inform our Client Services Manager, Linda, through email if you had assisted your client to receive the Booster dose.  Kindly include the vaccination date and the type of vaccine received.

Resourceful Futures continue to strictly implement Covid guidelines in our facility to ensure that all staff and clients working and attending Community Access Program are safe. Please do not come to the office if you are sick even if you are only experiencing mild Covid or Flu symptoms, regardless if you are fully vaccinated or tested Negative. If you are unable to get tested and have symptoms, assume that you are Positive of the virus.  AHS highly recommend for you to stay home, and isolate for at least five days or until all symptoms are gone.

If a member of your household tests Positive of the virus and are experiencing symptoms, inform the office immediately so we can evaluate the situation.

Also, we have enough supplies of PPE at the office. Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need them. Your safety is always our priority.

Thank you! Be kind and safe.
