Director’s Corner

A Message from the CEO

Dear RFCSL Community,

As we transition into the autumn season this September 2026, I am delighted to share an update on our organization’s significant progress and key achievements over the past six months. Our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional, person-centered services and nurturing a vibrant, supportive community remains at the heart of everything we do. The period from April through September 2026 has been marked by substantial organizational growth, operational enhancements, and exciting preparations for the future.

In Loving Memory of Tracy Dunn

It is with deep sadness that we honor and remember our dear colleague, Residential Program Coordinator Tracy Dunn, who recently passed away. For over 12 years, Tracy served the RFCSL family in multiple roles—as a Community Support Worker, Permitted Subcontractor, and Program Coordinator focusing on Advanced Care Planning.

Tracy cared deeply for those around her, and her warmth, encouragement, and generosity touched countless lives. She built meaningful connections across our community, leaving an indelible mark on the individuals we support, our families, and our staff. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for her lifetime of dedication, friendship, and service. She will be dearly missed, and her legacy of kindness will always remain a cherished part of Resourceful Futures.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who shared condolences, offered words of comfort, and attended Tracy’s funeral service and Celebration of Life at the RFCSL main office. Your presence, support, and memories meant a great deal to Tracy’s family, friends, and all of us at RFCSL.

Building on Our Foundation of Excellence

Following our 100% accreditation success in the Respite CET survey, our focus has shifted entirely to continuous improvement and long-term sustainability as we prepare for our upcoming full Community Evaluation Team (CET) survey scheduled for May 11–13, 2027. Our administrative and frontline teams are working side-by-side to audit files, align policies and procedures, and maintain these rigorous standards across all service domains ahead of our internal completion deadline in February 2027.

Strengthening Partnerships & Operational Growth

Over the past six months, RFCSL has taken crucial steps to expand funding, optimize regulatory compliance, and modernize key business operations:

  • Expanded Service Proposals: In spring and early summer, we submitted comprehensive Expressions of Interest and targeted funding proposals across all service areas to broaden our capacity and enhance delivery support for the individuals we serve.
  • Safety & Workplace Compliance: Building on our updated Health & Safety Handbook and OHS guidelines, RFCSL continues to integrate private disability frameworks and provincial mandates to ensure robust protection, full regulatory compliance, and long-term safety for all staff and permitted subcontractors.

Day Program Vibrancy & Successful Events

The energy across our day programs and community initiatives continues to be inspiring. The redesigned activity formats launched earlier this year have continued to thrive, bringing daily joy, active engagement, and meaningful connection to our clients:

  • Highlight of Recent Events: Over the past months, we successfully hosted vibrant track and field competitions, basketball games, drumming sessions, baking workshops, and creative arts exhibitions. Additionally, our community fundraising lunches were a resounding success, bringing together clients and staff to celebrate our shared journey and milestones.

Team Updates & Communication Channels

We are pleased to share key operational reminders and team updates:

Departmental Communication Channels & Staff Recognition: RFCSL rolled out dedicated operational email addresses to streamline communication and enforce strict chains of command as follows:

Policies, Procedures & ShareVision Reminders: We remind all staff and team members to remain thoroughly familiar with RFCSL’s operational policies and procedures. Please ensure you regularly log in and check ShareVision for up-to-date client progress notes, profiles, and service documentation.

A Message of Gratitude

To our dedicated staff, leadership team, and permitted subcontractors: your tireless dedication is the driving force behind RFCSL’s success. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to quality care, administrative excellence, and creating an inclusive environment where individuals with special needs can thrive.

To our guardians, families, and community partners: thank you for your continued trust and collaboration. Your partnership provides clarity and foundation for everything we achieve.

HR Corner

As we welcome the fall season, it’s hard to believe how quickly this year is moving along. With the changing seasons comes an opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments, embrace new opportunities, and continue supporting one another as a team.

One thing that continually stands out at Resourceful Futures is the strength of our team. Every day, staff step up to support one another, adapt to new challenges, and advocate for the individuals we serve. It is inspiring to see the dedication, compassion, and professionalism demonstrated across all departments. Whether you’re supporting individuals directly, helping a co-worker, or contributing behind the scenes, your efforts make a meaningful difference. As we continue to grow and evolve, let’s remember that our greatest resource is each other. Thank you for helping create a workplace that is supportive, positive, and focused on providing quality services.

Reminders

As a reminder, Infection Control and Bloodborne Pathogens training in Open Future Learning is now a required training module. If you have not yet completed this course, please do so as soon as possible.

Please also ensure that all mandatory documents are completed and submitted. Keeping your file up to date is important for compliance and helps ensure we have current information when needed. If you are unsure whether you have outstanding documents or requirements, please reach out to HR.

In addition, please stay current with all requirements, complete required documentation in a timely manner, and review organizational updates as they are shared. If you need support or have questions, HR is here to help, and my door is always open. Together, we can continue building a positive, supportive, and successful workplace for everyone.

Success is not achieved by one person alone, but by a team of dedicated individuals working toward a common goal. Thank you for being part of that journey.

Community celebrations and team news

Client Appreciation Day

A big thank you to the Client Relations Committee and every staff member who worked so hard to make Client Appreciation Day a wonderful celebration. From arranging catering and preparing delicious desserts to organizing prizes and individual awards, your care and effort made the day special.

We want to give a special thank you to Jennilyn T., who has worked diligently since March 2026 to bring this event together. Her dedication helped make the celebration vibrant and memorable for everyone who attended.

Leadership Update

Resourceful Futures has recently made changes to its leadership team. We would like to congratulate Guien Codiaman on her transition from Community Access Coordinator to Program Coordinator. We are also pleased to welcome back Christina Redding, who has accepted a Program Coordinator position.

As part of these changes, Program Coordinator caseloads have been reorganized. Each Program Coordinator’s caseload now includes individuals from across all of our programs.

Spring & Summer Activities Highlights

Our clients had an incredible time participating in the many spring and summer activities offered this year. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our compassionate staff, clients continued to receive the support, care, and encouragement that make these experiences so enjoyable and meaningful. The beautiful weather made each event even more memorable.

Multicultural Celebration

In June, CAP hosted a vibrant Multicultural Celebration that showcased the diversity that makes Resourceful Futures such a welcoming and inclusive workplace. Staff members prepared and shared delicious foods representing cultures from Asia, Afghanistan, Africa, Canada, and other countries around the world. Everyone had the opportunity to sample a variety of flavorful dishes, refreshing drinks, and delightful desserts while learning more about different cultures and traditions.

Stampede Celebration & Heritage Park Adventure

Our annual Stampede Celebration was a tremendous success, filled with excitement, laughter, and plenty of loud “Yahoos!” The midway games were a big hit and brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

In August, CAP organized a full-day visit to Heritage Park, where clients and staff enjoyed exploring the attractions and taking memorable boat and train rides. The day was topped off with refreshing ice cream and popsicle treats, making it a wonderful summer outing for all.

Client Appreciation Event

In September, we proudly hosted our annual Client Appreciation Event at the Alexandra Centre Society. It was a special day dedicated to celebrating our clients and recognizing their achievements.

The event featured wonderful dance and song performances by staff members, who dedicated their presentations to the clients. Guests enjoyed a delicious lunch complete with fantastic food, beverages, and desserts.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to making this event a success. We would like to extend a special thank you to Rakesh, CEO, for generously sponsoring the food, and to Jennilyn T., CRC Chair, for leading the event and ensuring every client felt valued and celebrated.

Clients were proudly presented with certificates, appreciation tokens, and beautiful Resourceful Futures hoodies. Thank you to Ruby for coordinating the hoodie order and helping make this special gift possible.

We would also like to recognize everyone who supported the Mr. and Miss Resourceful Futures Fundraiser, and congratulate the winners, Nathan R. and Maria B., whose participation played an important role in the success of the event.
