“Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.”
From the Desk of Rob Halfyard, CEO
I hope each one who celebrated Thanksgiving enjoyed yourself immensely and reflected on all the great things you are grateful for.
For me personally, I have taken some time to reflect on the past, present, and future of Resourceful Futures. I believe I am right where I need to be at this moment in time in my CEO position. I am very grateful for everything I have learned over the years from the clients we serve, their guardians and family members, frontline support staff, permitted subcontractors, the leadership team, management/Board members of RFCSL, and all internal/external committees and stakeholders.
Over the past few months, RFCSL has been undergoing many exciting operational changes. It was my greatest pleasure coordinating engagement meetings with all areas of our stakeholders and highlighting some of the exciting changes and our direction moving forward.
Everyone’s continued support inspires all of us at RFCSL to extract best practices from these engagement opportunities that ultimately assist us to move forward with a focus on achieving superior outcomes for the primary purpose of RFCSL following our motto: Nothing About Us, Without US.
On Friday, October 13th, 2023, RFCSL hosted a client Gala for the very first time. It was an amazing celebration. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the committee members, and all the employees who volunteered much of the off-duty time to make this event a huge success.
I look forward to your ongoing support and engagement meetings that inform RFCSL of the work we do and ideas we should consider that support our strategic goals and outcomes.

COORDINATORS REPORT
Fall Greetings,
Hoping you all had an enjoyable long weekend celebrating Thanksgiving with loved ones.
Fall has come upon us, and the weather will be getting colder. Please make certain that your individual is dressed for the weather.
We have been doing some home visits over the summer and will continue to do more in the fall. We will reach out to you in the middle to late October to schedule. Public guardians also want to have home visits, they may be coming with us, as well.
Please check the date of your fire extinguishers. The date is located on the bottom of the tank. A fire extinguisher has a 10-year life span. As an example, the date on my tank is 2015, I will buy a new one in 2025.
The Flu/COVID vaccine clinic was held last October 12, 2023, at the office. Thank You to the wonderful people at Buffalo Run Pharmacy.
If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Happy Halloween,
-Shelly, Tracy, and Linda
COMMUNITY ACCESS PROGRAM NEWS
It has been an extremely exciting time here at Resourceful Futures over the past couple of months. We ended July with our ‘End of the Year’ party at Prairie Winds Park. The weather was perfect with a spectacular water fight amongst staff and clients; followed by lunch and cake to end it off.
During the months of August and September the weather was exceptionally good to us, and it allowed our clients to go out and explore our beautiful city. Clients were able to explore the downtown area, and even meet some professional musicians at Devonian Gardens. During September, the clients participated in the Resourceful Futures Bowling Tournament and won trophies and prizes for their efforts. We also took the time to celebrate Orange Shirt Day on September 29th for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. A special thank you to our worker Jennilyn for creating a thoughtful presentational video to our clients on what Orange Shirt Day represents; and we paid our respects to the indigenous community. There were also some internal changes within the leadership team. Please give Congratulations to Guien who has moved into the Program Coordinator position and Sam as the new Assistant Team Leader. We are happy and excited to provide these positive changes within RFCSL.
October was a remarkably busy month in preparation for our very first Client Appreciation Gala that took place on Friday October 13th. It took a lot of hard work and dedication from the staff involved to make this a reality, so we would like to give a special thanks to the Social and Client Relations Committees, as well as those who volunteered their time to help. It was really a spectacular evening filled with love, laughter, and amazing company.
As we reflect on the previous months, we are exceptionally grateful and appreciative of the continued dedication of our staff, and the enthusiasm they bring to our clients in creating memorable moments.
