A Message from the CEO
Dear RFCSL Community,
As we transition into the new fiscal year this April 2026, I am delighted to share an update on our organization’s progress since October. Our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional, person-centered services and nurturing a vibrant, supportive community remains our paramount objective. The past six months have been a period of profound achievement, defined by the dedication of our entire team and the inspiring growth of the individuals we support.
A Landmark Achievement: 100% Accreditation
The highlight of our recent months has been our official accreditation success. I am incredibly proud to announce that RFCSL achieved a 100% score in the Respite CET survey. This perfect result is a testament to the high quality of care we provide and the integrity of our operations.
We are profoundly grateful to every family member, staff member, and permitted subcontractor who participated in this process. Your feedback was the cornerstone of this achievement, confirming that we are not only meeting but exceeding the CET standards for excellence. This success belongs to all of us.
Celebrating Our Community Life & Program Success
The true heart of RFCSL is the daily joy and progress of those we support. Over the last six months, our community has been more active than ever:
- Redesigned Day Program Success: A few months ago, we undertook a major redesign of our Day Program activities. This initiative was born directly from listening to our clients’ needs and interests. I am thrilled to report that the new format has been a resounding success—our clients truly love the new activities!
- A Special Thank You: I want to extend a massive thank you to our entire Coordinators team, HR, and the Day Program staff. You worked tirelessly to redesign these activities from the ground up, ensuring they are engaging, meaningful, and person-centered. Your hard work is the reason our clients are thriving.
- Vibrant Programming & Connection: From fitness, track and field, and basketball to drumming, baking, and creative arts, our programming continues to flourish. Our fundraising lunches have also been a wonderful success, bringing together clients, guardians, and staff to celebrate our collective journey.
Organizational Excellence & Safety
Behind our social successes, we have been working hard to ensure RFCSL remains a leader in professional standards:
- Contractual & Policy Updates: Effective April 1, 2026, we have implemented updated contracts for our entire team, including frontline staff and permitted subcontractors. These updates include a modernized vacation section to ensure transparency and consistency across our organization.
- Health & Safety Priority: We have introduced a new Health & Safety Handbook aligned with OHS guidelines. We ask all team members, staff, and subcontractors to review these documents thoroughly during the contract renewal process to ensure we maintain our high safety standards.
- Commitment to Accountability: Our performance review framework has been expanded to include permitted subcontractors, ensuring that every person representing RFCSL is aligned with our high standards of care.
A Message of Gratitude
To our dedicated team, both staff and permitted subcontractors, your tireless commitment is the engine of this organization. We are deeply committed to exceptional retention and fostering a workplace where you feel truly valued. Your passion for supporting individuals with special needs is inspiring, and we are grateful for the energy you bring to RFCSL every day.
Thank you to our guardians and stakeholders for your ongoing partnership. Your trust allows us to continue our mission with confidence and clarity.

Looking Ahead

📌 Important Reminders
Security Clearances
All permitted and respite support homes must ensure that UpToDate Security Clearances, including Vulnerable Sector Searches, are in place for anyone living in the home who is over the age of 18 and not receiving services. This is a contractual requirement and should be completed as soon as possible. Please note that missing or outdated documentation may result in delays to Fee for Service payments.
Time Off Requests
Employees requesting time off are reminded to submit requests with adequate notice. A minimum of 5–7 days is required for processing, in accordance with company policy and scheduling needs. Requests are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and availability may be limited during holiday peak periods due to operational requirements. Please note that all time off requests are processed by me (Kendra), and processing times may be impacted if I am also away. Submitting your request as early as possible increases the likelihood of approval.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
💙 Final Thank You
Overall, thank you to everyone for your continued compassion, teamwork, and commitment. We truly appreciate all that you do as valued members of the Resourceful Futures community.

COMMUNITY ACCESS PROGRAM
Exciting enhancements were introduced with the launch of our winter activities in December 2025. Community Access Supervisors, front-line staff, and clients alike responded with great enthusiasm to the new group support schedule. While group programming expanded significantly, clients with more complex needs continued to receive individualized one‑on‑one support to ensure their unique goals and requirements were fully met.
Several new activities were added to our most popular programs, including Crochet, Cooking, Music & Motion, Men’s and Women’s Groups, Trampoline, and Gymnastics. This updated group scheduling model has strengthened teamwork and fostered meaningful peer connections among both staff and clients. Increased consistency has also supported stronger follow‑through, promoting ongoing skill development and deeper engagement in each chosen activity.
During this period, we were proud to secure two volunteer placements for our clients at the WINS Donation Centre and the MCC Thrift Store. We are sincerely grateful for these opportunities, which allow clients to build valuable skills such as organization, teamwork, accountability, and responsibility while engaging with the broader community.
Over the past six months, we were delighted to welcome Community Access clients Lynn, Karla, Devan, Julian, Nathan, and Keegan to our growing Resourceful Futures team. At the same time, we pause to remember our dear James, who passed away in December of last year. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Please stay tuned—our exciting summer activities will be announced soon! Together, we will continue to make our programs meaningful, engaging, and impactful while supporting growth and independence in our clients’ day‑to‑day lives.
Thank you for everything that you do—we truly appreciate you.
Reminder: Please use dayprogram@resourcefulfutures.org when sending emails to Community Access Program.

Bottle Drive Update
Client Appreciation Day
Our bottle drive was created to help raise funds for our upcoming Client Appreciation Day this Fall and we’re happy to share that it’s been going well!
Every Wednesday, staff have been generously bringing in their empty bottles to support the fundraiser. It’s been great to see everyone contributing and working together toward a common goal.
So far, we’ve collected a little over $100, which is a great start!
We truly appreciate everyone’s support and participation, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going as we continue raising funds for this special event.
